Meet Celaena Sardothien.
Beautiful. Deadly.
Destined for greatness.

In the dark, filthy salt mines of Endovier, an eighteen-year-old girl is serving a life sentence. She is a trained assassin, the best of her kind, but she made a fatal mistake: she got caught.

Young Captain Westfall offers her a deal: her freedom in return for one huge sacrifice. Celaena must represent the prince in a to-the-death tournament—fighting the most gifted thieves and assassins in the land. Live or die, Celaena will be free. Win or lose, she is about to discover her true destiny. But will her assassin’s heart be melted?

"My name is Celaena Sardothien," she whispered. "But it makes no difference if my name's Celaena or Lillian or Bitch, because I'd still beat you, no matter what you call me."

Perfection, utterly magnificent, superb world building, epic fantasy…
There’s seriously a lack of descriptive words when it comes to this book… there is a reason this is my favourite! <3

Celaena Sardothien is the most notorious and famous assassian in all of Adarlan but she was betrayed, captured and sentenced to Endovier: a salt mine prison. After facing a grueling year of her sentence she’s finally given a glimpse of freedom but it comes with a price; she must enter a competition held by the king, the very man who put her in Endovier. The king is hosting a competition and the winner will be crowned The King’s Champion, she must serve him faithfully for four years and in return be granted her freedom. However during the tournament champions are being maliciously killed by something dark and evil that lurks inside the glass castle, with the number of rivals dwindling, Celaena must survive, outwit her competitors and become The King's Champion.

Celaena is the perfect heroine, not only is she a badass assassin but she’s strong, funny, beautiful which she totally uses to her advantage and smart; her words can cut as deep as her blades. Overall she has the perfect balance as she could go from being quite girly to slitting someone’s throat, quite the contrast but so much fun to read about!

The romance is for three: Celaena, Dorian (The Crown Prince) and Choal (The Captain if the Guard). When I first read this I was totally in love with Dorian, he’s so sweet and caring and I totally loved the idea of the prince and the assassin. Now that I’m reading this again I became much more aware of Chaol, I felt so sorry for him he’s in such an awkward position with his demanding job and his feelings for Celaena, I could feel myself drifting to Chaol more and more as the story went on. Although there wasn't more than one romance going on at one time and by this I mean only a few kisses with one person it becomes clear towards the end what will happen in terms of love interests in the next book… and now I can’t wait to read it again, let's hope my heart can take it!

Overall the world building was simply gorgeous and vivid with a detailed map at hand to help. The books later in this series offer much much more than this amazing first installment, we have magic, faeries, heartbreaking betrayals and deaths of loved ones. This series will destroy you, it’s fantasy at it’s best with a delicious plot that will leave you begging for more… just read this, thank me later ;) no seriously if you haven’t read this then definitely check out some other reviews and ratings and give a try! Now it's time to re-read Crown of Midnight.

“You could rattle the stars,” she whispered. “You could do anything, if you only dared.”

Totally have to share with you all, my new cushions I got for my birthday.. how gorgeous! One of my favourite quotes from Throne of Glass and well I'm sure we all remember the quote from A Court of Thorns and Roses or Abs & Pecks as it should be called.. ahhh the magnificent Maas men <3

  2. My favourite quote of all time happens to be the very quote you started your review with. Celaena is just badass through and through, and definitely earns the title for scariest and deadliest heroine :) Wouldn't be be awesome to be friends with her? Or at least have her on your side?
