I am the perfect weapon.
I kill with a single touch.

Twylla is blessed. The Gods have chosen her to marry a prince, and rule the kingdom. But the favour of the Gods has it's price. A deadly poison infuses her skin. Those who anger the queen must die under Twylla's fatal touch.

Only Lief, an outspoken new guard, can see past Twylla's chilling role to the girls she truly is.

Yet in a court as dangerous and the queen's, some truths should not be told...

A fabulous debut by Melina Salisbury as she brings a completely unique twist to YA books. Twylla has been taken away from her home and family to live in a castle with the Royal Family and to be engaged to the Prince.. doesn’t sound to bad does it? Only one tiny problem she’s not there to live in luxury she’s actually the executioner of those who have committed crimes against the crown and her weapon? Her skin. Yes one touch from the deadly poison infused in her skin and that’s it’s game over… That is until she meets her new guard Lief.

This book is magnificent and extremely addictive! I fell in love with Twylla as she started off as a really naïve character that just follows orders but her development through the book is stunning. She completely comes into her own and will no longer be the Evil Queens puppet.  I was completely pulled into this book from the beginning and soon enough I thought I was able to predict the rest but Salisbury never once let that happen, there was so many twists and turns that I couldn’t put the book down for long, I just had to know what happens next.

There is a supposed love triangle in this book however I never thought there was one. This isn’t the case of the heroine going back and forth between love interests, Twylla knows who and what she wants and from there it’s just a typical romance. I didn’t love the romance because it just seemed a bit off, there wasn’t much chemistry between the two. My favourite part of this book was the plot, it was completely new to me and like nothing I’ve ever read before for.

This book is part of a series but there is no cliffhanger as the ending leaves the book complete. Thank god it is a series as I’m looking forward to see where she takes us next with her brilliantly twisted mind. For her debut novel this book is superb and I recommend it to anyone who loves Fantasy with a bit of a twist.
