Blurb:
A princess must find her place in a reborn world.

She flees on her wedding day.

She steals ancient documents from the Chancellor's secret collection.

She is pursued by bounty hunters sent by her own father.

She is Princess Lia, seventeen, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan.

The Kingdom of Morrighan is steeped in tradition and the stories of a bygone world, but some traditions Lia can't abide. Like having to marry someone she's never met to secure a political alliance.

Fed up and ready for a new life, Lia flees to a distant village on the morning of her wedding. She settles in among the common folk, intrigued when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deceptions swirl and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—secrets that may unravel her world—even as she feels herself falling in love.

Prepare to have your heart broken, twisted, crushed and turned inside out because this book will do just that. This is fantasy at it’s best!! Also how amazing is the title?

The book starts off with Princess Lia preparing for her wedding day, she doesn’t know anything about her betrothal so decides to run away from the marriage and the pressure of being a royal. She soon settles in a little town and manages to hide her identity by getting a job at the local tavern. Whilst working two strangers enter: One is the prince she left on her wedding day, the other is an assassin sent to kill her. Now at this point this may seem like a typical love triangle that you see in the majority of YA.

But wait….. There’s a twist, we don’t know which one is which they are only referred to as ‘The Prince’ and ‘The Assassin’. To make this story even better it is told from all 3 points of view so you can’t just pick one against the other, you get to know each of them personally. The love triangle was written flawlessly and was made fun by the constant guessing, who is the prince/assassin? Pearson leaves little clues right the way through the book but they are totally vague, I spent the majority of the book changing my mind as to who was who. Another thing to mention about the romance is at the beginning there were clearly the good guy and the bad but as the book progressed and you read these multiple viewpoints the lines blur and your loyalties shift. Once I’d finished the book I found that the love triangle is mostly absent and it was my own feelings getting in the way with being so emotionally invested with the characters. I still can't choose between them!!

The book touches on magic but I think we’ll definitely see more of this in the next book and a lot more action but we do get to meet some gypsies, which was pretty cool! The book was phenomenal; it captivates you from chapter 1 and keeps you on the edge of your seat till the very end. The ending.. Let’s just say it I NEED BOOK 2, so excited to see what will happen, if only my little heart could take it!

Book 2 The Heart of Betrayal is out July 7th 2015. For those of you who love stunning writing, killer romances and a little bit of mystery this is definitely for you!
