Blurb:
Life is almost back to normal for Harper Price. The Ephors have been silent after their deadly attack at Cotillion months ago, and her best friend, Bee, has returned after a mysterious disappearance. Now Harper can focus on the important things in life: school, canoodling with David (her nemesis-turned-ward-slash-boyfie), and even competing in the Miss Pine Grove pageant.
Unfortunately, supernatural chores are never done. The Ephors have decided they’d rather train David than kill him. The catch: Harper has to come along for the ride, but she can’t stay David’s Paladin unless she undergoes an ancient trial that will either kill her . . . or make her more powerful than ever.
I would still recommend this to everyone because Hawkins produces another fun read it just lacked substance and was a little short. Also the ending was so sad but it was wrote as if it was the last book that bugged me so I’m not sure what to expect from the final book. I will still be reading the final book as I love Harper & David so much, I just hope it gets better :)

It’s so hard to rate this book!
First off I loved Rebel Belle it had
everything, this book just fell a bit short. It picks off
where Rebel Belle left off with David being a Oracle and having visions of
the future and Harper the Paladin protecting him. We now have Ryan, Harper’s ex-boyfriend who is the new Mage which was an excellent and awkward
twist in the first book.
Now the Ephors are back and making a move for David to be the most powerful Oracle to have ever lived but they know
Harper will never let this happen. The Ephors tell Harper that she is not a
true Paladin unless she completes age-old trails that test her willingness to protect David, if she succeeds she will be
stronger than ever but is she fails it will cost her life.
It’s starts off a little slow and even
though it does sound like a lot is going on nothing really does. This book
still has amazing writing full of sass and witty humour which you will love
like its predecessor there just seemed to be a lot of unnecessary drama which I
thought was covered in book one.

Yaa... I felt the same. I loved the first book but this was not as good. It lacked something. And as you said nothing was really happening.
ReplyDeleteNice review by the way!!

I still want to read Rebel Belle. I am a bit put off by this cover. I enjoy it so much more when covers mesh in series better than this one. I know.... don't judge a book by a cover and all that, but still.
