I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.
And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.
But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can't stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.
Falling for Katy—a human—won't just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen...
Daemon
Black is back!
“Huh. Perhaps I was a bit too much of a dick the first two times I talked to her. Good thing she didn’t know I briefly considered burning her house down.”
I think the entire Lux fandom may just
explode from the excitement of having not just 1, but 3 books told from Daemon’s
POV. Oblivion is truly magnificent, it’s allows you to relive all of your favorite
moments from the series but also brings new information to the table and shed
new light on Daemon’s infamous split personality.
Obsidian – So I’m pretty sure you all
think you know how Katy met her next-door neighbor but you are wrong! There are
still a few scenes that JLA has been keeping up her sleeves all these years and
they do not disappoint. I absolutely loved Daemon’s POV and seeing everything form
his perspective and the reasons behind some of his douche-y actions.
“And I also know that although she wasn’t mine now, she would be one day.”
Onyx – Daemon’s ego knows no bounds but
when Kat finally gets under his skin and walks away, he’s only too eager to win
her over… after all he loves a challenge! I was just as frustrated with Onyx,
if not more because of a certain character that won’t be named Blake, and
knowing what happened next did not lessen any heartbreak.
“I knew right then I would burn down the whole universe for her if I had to. I would do anything to keep her safe. Kill. Heal. Die. Anything. Because she was my everything.”
Opal – Devastation, tears and more
tears. That is all.
My chest ripped right open and I said what I should’ve said days ago, weeks and months ago. “I love you, Katy. Always have. Always will. I will come back for you. I will—”
The doors sealed shut.
She was gone.
Fellow Daemon and Kitten lovers had better
be prepared to relive the agony that is the Lux series but to also realize what
made you love these books in the first place. My only problem with Oblivion is
that is wasn’t enough; I would have loved his POV from Origin and Opposition
but alas Oblivion was no less epic, enjoy ladies!
***Just a little note for those of you thinking of reading this, only the ebook version of Oblivion includes Daemon's POV of Obsidian, Onyx and Opal. Physical copies only provide Obsidian.***
Great review!! I still have only read the first book, but I can't wait for read the rest. Then I may read this one. I'm not sure, but your review is making me want to!
ReplyDeleteMan oh man I can't wait to dive back into this series, well I read one book but still. I really liked the first book so I'm excited to continue. Nice review!
ReplyDeleteDid you say that this book is perfect to relive our agony? There's absolutely no way I'm going to make it through this book without breaking down to cry numerous times...
ReplyDeleteI'm still a little angry about how only the ebook version has all three, whereas the paperback version only has Obsidian. Why must our Daemon Black shrine remain incomplete?
I absolutely loved all those quotes you chose, since they properly capture Daemon's personality--both his jerk self, and his amazing boyfriend self.
Hopefully JLA will come out with another book featuring just only Daemon's POV for Origin and Opposition, without Katy's!
Stellar review as always, Cody! :D
Ah those quotes you mentioned are the ones I highlighted in my Kindle too! Love them :D This book made me so itchy for even more of Daemon, it was awesome! Plus, did you hear, JLA is talking about releasing a spin off from Luc's POV! (Can I get a high-pitched fangirl scream??) I loved that scene with Luc and Paris at the end of Oblivion, it's made me so curious about him!
ReplyDeleteGreat review :)
I've yet to read this one, but now that I know I'm getting the ebook version FOR SURE! I loved the series and this sounds amazing as well!

I absolutely adored Oblivion! Everything you said was true. Agh, the quotes make me so happy. I was so upset when I finished it because it felt so final - like Katy and Daemon's story was over. But at least there will (possibly) be a movie in the future according to JLA's blog! :D
