Blurb:

When life gives you a blank canvas, make art.

Sloane Whitaker hates everything about moving to Texas. She hates leaving behind her friends and half her family in New York, starting over senior year at Austin’s NextGen Academy, and having to say she lives in Texas. Most of all, she hates that it’s all her fault. If she wants to earn her way back to the Big Apple, she has to prove she can still be the perfect daughter.

Which means no vandalism art, no trouble at school, and absolutely no Tru Dorsey, her serial screw-up neighbor, who loves nothing more than pushing her buttons.

But from the moment he vaults onto the roof outside her bedroom, there is something about him that makes her want to break every rule. Suddenly it’ s not the ten things she hates about Tru that are at the top of her list. It’s the ten reasons she doesn’t want to be without him.

After an ‘Incident’ that landed Sloane in a heap of trouble and a criminal record, she’s forced to move to Texas. Determined to get back to New York City to finish her school year with her friends, Sloane must stay on her mother’s good side and at least try to make an effort at her new school. However staying out of trouble seems impossible whenever her next-door neighbor Tru is around.

Yet again another Crush read that I couldn't put down, I devoured this one sitting and I enjoyed it so so much. From the blurb it’s clear that Sloane is quite rebellious but I thoroughly enjoyed just how stubborn and defiant she can be, everything from her attitude, clipped words and even the choice of her wardrobe sends a message, although she did annoy me at times and came across a little childish, I did love her character development. Tru was absolutely perfect in this, I found myself time and time again looking forward to his POV chapters, he has a much darker backstory that broke my heart but I truly admired how he carried himself outside of these dark times.

The majority of the book speaks around this ‘Incident’ and I would have preferred to find out what actually happened a lot sooner, also I was expecting it to be much worse than it really was. Sloane and Tru have great banter and I could really see them as a great couple, my only problem was that the romance and the possibility of a romance came at the end of the book, so I would have liked a lot more.

The ending was great but was quickly dealt with, I still have so many questions but there’s going to be another book so yay! I will definitely be carrying on with the series as I’m dying to see what will happen with Sloane and Tru. I'm hoping it will have more romance and definitely be some justice being served to a certain dark character bastard. All in all this is a great book for comtemporary romance fans who enjoy quick reads with a little more depth to their stories.
