Blurb:
After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

PLEASE TELL ME THE ENDING WAS A CRUEL JOKE

Now that I’m semi recovered from the heartbreak that is the ending, I can talk about this book, this stupid, infuriating, loveable, addictive book!

Many writers decide to end their series on the third book, not many writers at all go past 4 yet alone 5+ and more importantly not many writers are able to do these well.

Right so from the beginning, Katy and Daemon are finally together yay, things can now get back to normal surely? Nope, that pretty little illusion is completely shattered when Biff, Bill, Bob, no I mean Blake comes back into town. YES BLAKE! Urgh, I was practically shouting at the book when he strolled on in, as if nothing happened, as if he didn’t kill Adam? I mean come on, Adam was just adorable and perfect for Dee, and I was devastated. He should have be blasted into next week the creeper but no he has the cheek to blackmail Kitten & Daemon into helping him on a suicide mission; to break into the DOD and save his friend Chris.

The only good thing to come from Blake was the fact that Daemon and Dee were able to get Dawson back so how can they say no to Blake knowing that Bethany is locked away with Chris?
He’s such an asshole, I hate hate hate him!

The plot gets a little sluggish in the middle and to be honest I didn’t pick the book back up for another 2 days but push through you will be rewarded ;) The action to romance ratio is far from even but apart from the slump in the middle I didn’t really notice this until I’d actually finished the book and saw how heavily set it was on the romance. Everything apart from the ending was predictable but in the best way possible, JLA leaves little clues and hints about people’s true motives and what could happen next, this paired with some crazy plot twists will soon make the pages disappear.

Daemon? Argh gone is the bad-boy which I miss, don’t get me wrong he’s so sweet and caring in this book but he sort of lost his voice when it came to Katy, she annoyed me in this book, I just wasn’t feeling her. However after the cliffhanger ending I’m thinking badass Daemon is going to be back and be bad-der then ever? YAAAAAY! The romance was definitely kicked up a notch here.

So as I’ve said Katy was a little meh. For me this book was all about Dawson, oh I loved him. He was completely broken from 2 years of torture from the DOD but there were these moments where we would smile and joke with his siblings that would just bring the biggest smile to my face!

Now onto the cliffhanger!!!

There just wasn’t any need for it, I read those last 2 pages with a racing heart and gut wrenching fear, I was expecting it due to the tagline on Origin **NEW READERS DON’T DO IT YOURSELF** but seriously the feels where out of this world, I was devastated! I thank yet again my fellow bloggers who told me to buy the whole series because I’m heading straight onto Origin!

Best part of the book had to be this:

Surprised, Blake lowered his hand. “Uh, hi—”
Dee cocked back a slender arm and slammed her fist right into Blake’s jaw. The impact knocked him back a good three feet.
My mouth dropped open. Andrew laughed.
Spinning around, she let out a long breath. “Okay. I’m done.”
“I promised her one good hit,” Daemon said, chuckling. “She’ll behave now.”

  1. Haha, I warned you the ending to Opal would be devastating ;) Now imagine all the poor people who read this book the day it came out, and then had to wait an entire year for Origin to find out what happens! Good thing you have the whole series on hand, as it definitely saves you all the anguish :)
